PASO DOBLE : HK jewellers get lift as market slides - report from JCK Las Vegas, 2006
on 2006/6/20 11:10:00 (301 reads)

Blame it on the economy, the war in Iraq or the high price of gold: no matter which way buyers and retailers look at the situation, global jewellery market sales have slid, with just a couple of exceptions, according to a number of top buyers and retailers. Nowhere has this trend been more evident than at the JCK Las Vegas 2006 jewellery show, held from 4th to 7th June at the Venetian Hotel Resort and Casino.

This year's show included more than 2,700 manufacturers and designers (250 from Hong Kong) and attracted over 21,000 retailers from around the world. The Vicenza Oro Pavilion at JCK also made its debut - replacing the show's existing Italian Pavilion - featuring approximately 170 Italian manufacturers and designers, daily wine tastings and fashion shows. Add comedian Joan Rivers as the keynote speaker with 10 educational tracks covering diamonds, gems, business and jewellers notebooks and the show promised to offer exceptional opportunities for exhibitors and retailers.
